The conditions for this new definition of MSME are:

  • The enterprise must meet at least two of the three criteria;
  • If the company does not meet two of the three criteria, then the Annual Revenue will be the main determining factor of the size of the company, followed by the Total Employees and then, the Total Assets; and
  • For companies of international standard or having an international parent company will automatically be categorized as Large Enterprises.​​


​Informal Sector

​Sektor tidak formal terdiri daripada individu atau entiti tidak berdaftar yang terlibat dalam pengeluaran barangan dan perkhidmatan dengan objektif utama untuk menjana pekerjaan dan pendapatan secara kecil-kecilan kepada mereka yang berkenaan.​
​The informal sector consists of person or unregistered entity engaged in the production of goods and services with the primary objective of generating employment and income on a small scale to the persons concerned​

Start-Up

Sebuah entiti perniagaan berdaftar yang telah beroperasi tidak lebih dari 5 tahun. Perniagaan tersebut mempunyai model perniagaan yang berskala ('scalable') dan lazimnya sering memanfaatkan penggunaan teknologi dalam menghasilkan produk dan/atau perkhidmatan yang inovatif.
​A registered business entity which has been operating for not more than 5 years, and has a business model designed to be highly scalable, usually by leveraging on technology to create innovative products and/or services.​​


Youth-Owned Enterprises

​Mana-mana Entiti dengan melebihi 50% dimiliki (secara individu atau bersama), diuruskan dan dikendalikan oleh usahawan Belia berumur antara 18 - 35 tahun.
​Any Entities with more than 50% owned (individually or collectively), managed and controlled by Youth entrepreneurs age between 18 - 35 years old.


Women-Owned Businesses

​Mana-mana Entiti dengan melebihi 50% dimiliki (secara tunggal atau bersama), diuruskan dan dikendalikan oleh seorang atau lebih wanita.
Any Entities with more than 50% owned (individually or collectively), managed and controlled by one or more women.​
